Afternoon English Program
English in the afternoon is an extracurricular class offered every Tuesday and Thursday for Preschoolers and every Monday and Wednesday for younger children. There are two small groups at Pre-School and one for the younger children.
This is what a typical afternoon setting looks like:
Free-Play
(Pre-School)
After their lunch children are allowed to
play games either inside or at the playground.
English teachers also interact with the children
through board games and some conversation
while they play.
(Younger children)
They have to lay down while the teacher can
either play audio CDs or read story books.
This rest is very important to allow their bodies
and minds to relax for a moment before class
begins.
Occasionally, the children will go on some
educational trips. This allows the children to
enjoy and appreciate learning English and to
show them English in an outside environment.
Class Time
Then, English class begins. Normally one lesson a week is being taught depending on the topic’s scope. Periodically a copy of monthly theme will be given to the parents for their reference.
Play and Snack Time
After their class, teachers let them rest for some few minutes and a snack shortly follows. This is also a chance to use English as a medium to teach table manners and to interact with each other in English.
As our world, in which our children are growing up in, is striving towards globalization. It is very essential that they have an early start learning English, which is the universal language.
But it has always been a reminder that it is most important that each parent speak with their children only in their native tongue.
English class is open to all students who are not attending the DAZ Unterricht. A parent- teacher evening will be held at least twice a year. If you wish to make an appointment with the English teachers at any other time please do not hesitate to call.
